What is internal cladding?
Internal cladding refers to the use of wood as a decorative or functional layer applied to the interior walls of a building. Typically, the wood is installed in panels or planks, creating a textured and warm look in a room. Internal cladding is used in both residential and commercial settings, from homes to hotels, restaurants, and offices.
A unique decorative feature
One of the main benefits of using wood cladding is its aesthetic appeal. The natural texture and warmth of wood create a cosy and inviting atmosphere in a space, making it a popular choice for designers and homeowners alike. Wood cladding can also be used to create a rustic or contemporary look depending on the type of wood used (species), the cladding profile and the installation method.
If you’re looking for something extra-special and unique, take a look at Shou-Sugi-Ban® Charred Timber Cladding. The ancient Japanese art of burning or charring timber is used to create beautiful, long-lasting cladding in a range of spectacular colours and finishes. Premier Forest Products works with Shou-Sugi-Ban® specialists to bring you a distinctive and characterful style for your interior project.
Create a comfortable space
In addition to its visual appeal, wood cladding offers several functional benefits. It can be used to add insulation to a room, reducing energy costs and creating a more comfortable environment. It can also be used to hide unsightly or damaged walls or to create a sound barrier in noisy areas.
Species
There are several types of wood used for internal cladding; the choice of wood depends on the desired look, durability and cost. Some woods are more affordable but require more maintenance, while others are more expensive but offer greater durability and resistance to wear and tear. Machined in-house for total quality control
Using specialist machinery, Premier Forest Products manufactures beautifully finished cladding in-house in both softwood and hardwood species. We make standard cladding profiles, for example shiplap, shadow gap, tongue & groove V-joint, featheredge and contemporary screen but can also produce bespoke claddings to meet your individual profile design. We have tooling equipment which enables us to create a template for your profile which can be cut precisely and repeatedly for large projects.
