Job Vacancy: HR Administrator

Premier Forest Products is one of the UK’s leading timber importers, processors and distributors. With over 20 sites nationwide and a workforce of 600+ employees, we have experienced significant growth in recent years through acquisitions and continued business expansion.

We are now looking to expand our HR team by appointing a part-time HR Administrator to support the day-to-day operation of our HR function. This role will provide essential administrative and operational support across the full employee lifecycle, working closely with the wider HR team, managers and support departments.

 What you will be doing:

This is a varied and fast-paced role, ideal for someone who enjoys providing hands-on HR support and ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Acting as a first point of contact for the HR Department, communicating regularly with managers, employees and new starters, responding to queries via email and telephone, monitoring the HR inbox and escalating queries to the appropriate team member where required.
  • Supporting all administrative aspects of onboarding, including liaising with managers and new starters to obtain required documentation, preparing and issuing offer letters and contracts, completing right-to-work and identity checks, updating the HR system and notifying payroll of new starter information.
  • Liaising with the IT Department to arrange equipment, system access and set-up for new starters ahead of their first day.
  • Welcoming new starters to the business and supporting the Health & Safety team with company inductions.
  • Completing offboarding administration, including communicating with leavers and managers, issuing leaver paperwork, arranging exit interviews, coordinating the return of company property and updating HR systems and payroll.
  • Providing administrative support during employee relations processes, including note-taking at investigations, disciplinary and grievance meetings, and supporting the collation of relevant documentation.
  • Supporting recruitment administration, including liaising with hiring managers to obtain role approvals, posting vacancies on Indeed, coordinating with Marketing to advertise roles on the company website and careers platforms, and arranging interviews.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records, ensuring personnel files and HR systems are kept up to date and compliant.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc HR projects and providing general administrative support to the HR team as required.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail who is organised, proactive and comfortable supporting a busy HR function.

You are likely to have:

  • Previous experience working in an HR Assistant, HR Administrator or similar support role.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • A strong interest in HR and a willingness to support continuous improvement of processes and ways of working.
  • Confidence working with HR systems; experience using Staffology HR / IRIS or similar systems would be highly desirable, particularly for someone who enjoys improving system functionality and getting the most out of HR platforms.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A professional, discreet and approachable manner, with the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Confidence in taking clear and accurate notes during meetings and discussions.
  • A CIPD Level 3 qualification (or working towards) would be desirable but is not essential.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other sites or attend events if required.

What we can offer:

  • 25 hours per week, worked over 5 days (Monday to Friday). We have some flexibility around how these hours are worked across these days.
  • Access to a leading Health & Wellbeing programme.
  • Christmas shutdown.
  • Onsite free parking.
  • Other benefits, including salary will be discussed further during the application and interview process.
