Job Vacancies: Yard Operative
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join our team in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.
Working closely with the Operations Manager, Yard Foreman, and wider depot team, you will play a key role in ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, stock is managed effectively, and vehicles are loaded and unloaded safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do:
- Pick customer orders accurately and ensure they are ready for dispatch on time.
- Complete picking notes and loading documentation accurately.
- Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Ensure stock is correctly identified and returned to the appropriate location.
- Report damaged, poor-quality, or non-conforming stock to the relevant supervisor.
- Support stock control activities, including stock rotation and returned goods procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the yard and operational areas.
- Follow all company Health & Safety policies and Safe Systems of Work.
- Report Health, Safety, and Environmental concerns promptly to management.
- Work flexibly across different operational areas and assist with additional duties when required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the depot.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a warehouse, yard operative, manufacturing, or industrial environment (preferred).
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence (preferred but not essential).
- Good understanding of safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Flexible approach to work and changing operational demands.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable with excellent attendance and timekeeping.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
