Job Vacancy: Machine Operator

We are looking for candidates who have experience and qualifications in wood-machining.

The following duties are required:

  • Setting and operating traditional wood working machines to produce batches of components required (from solid wood and from panel products) to a high-quality finish.
  • Ability to use various machinery such as, Morticer, Cross Cut Saw, Spindle Moulder, Edgebander, Planer, Thicknesser and Table Saw.
  • Machine timber to order / customer requirements.
  • Quality and quantity check all orders that they machine, controlling output and escalating issues.
  • Undertake routine operator led maintenance on machinery daily and to fill in maintenance sheets.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A positive, can-do attitude with basic problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with wood machinery and technical skills in wood working machinery.
  • An eye for detail.
  • Competent in Maths and English.
  • Willingness to learn and develop and an ability or desire to teach others.
  • Good timekeeping and reliability and keen to achieve more.

Job Type:

  • Monthly paid earnings based on 42.5 hour working week, consisting of the hours 7am to 4pm, Monday to Friday (overtime available).

Experience: Timber Machinist, 1 year (required).

Work Location: In person at PWIDF Newport, South Wales.
